While a substantial opponent, the Ford F-150's resting on its laurels has given Ram the opportunity to usurp the F-150 through the production of a vehicle as capable of serving as a daily driver as it is a robust work  vehicle: the 2019 Ram 1500. Drivers in Culver City to Playa Vista seeking a truck as stylish as it is strong, or West LA and Los Angeles drivers who desire the ability to tow their boat through dense traffic while relaxing in a quiet, comfortable cabin imbued with plush upholstery and advanced technology will find themselves wholly satisfied with the impeccable quality of the all-new 2019 Ram 1500.

Power, Performance, and Capabilities

The 2019 Ram 1500, as opposed to the Ford F-150, opts for quality over quantity which its various engine choices. While the Ford F-150 offers six engines for its various trims, none of the six offer the same best-in-class standard V6 horsepower as the iconic 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 engine found equipped on base trims of the 2019 Ram 1500. Boasting 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet, resulting in a 7,730-pound maximum towing capacity and further enhanced with the all-new eTorque® system for additional power, the 2019 Ram 1500 offers superior power and performance. Available both with and without the eTorque® system, the available 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 engine boasts up to 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet, resulting in best-in-class V8 towing with 12,750 pounds of maximum towing capacity.

Additionally amending the performance of the 2019 Ram 1500, the TorqueFlite® eight-speed automatic transmission optimizes shifts for optimal efficiency, performance and comfort, while the available class-exclusive Active-Level™ four-corner air suspension automatically raises or lowers the vehicle to provide ideal load balance, efficiency, and clearance as necessary.

Conversely, the Ford F-150, despite its various options, does not compete with the 2019 Ram 1500 as standard equipped. Its 3.3-liter Ti-VCT V6 engine offers 290 horsepower and 265 pound-feet, and comes equipped with a ten-speed automatic transmission with various drive modes. While the F-150 does offer a variety of other engines, including a diesel option, the best-in-class specifications offered by the 2019 Ram 1500 ultimately cannot be contested.

Interior, Technology and Safety

While the Ford F-150 and 2019 Ram 1500 find themselves relatively closely matched in power and performance, the interior of the 2019 Ram 1500 outstrips the Ford F-150 by orders of magnitude when fully equipped. Boasting a largest-in-class available 12-inch touchscreen and accompanying Uconnect® 12.0 system, the Ram 1500 offers superior degrees of technological integration with its intuitive and powerful system. Additionally, the massive interior storage capacity of 151 liters outstrips the nearest competition by offering almost twice as much space, through the utilization of unique design such as the in-floor RamBin® system. With active noise cancellation providing best-in-class interior quietness, an available Harman Kardon® premium sound system that is not only the most powerful in its class with 900-watts, but features 19 speakers (the most in its class) for unmatched entertainment capabilities. Further enhancing comfort is a dual-pane, ten-square-foot panoramic sunroof and plush Natura Plus leather upholstery that yields approximately 58% more interior leather than competing models.

The Ford F-150, not being completely outdone, does offer its own infotainment system in the form of the SYNC® 3 system, in addition to eight-inch LCD productivity screen for additional vehicle information. Conjoining with the integrated SYNC® system, the SYNC Connect® system with FordPass™ allows for smartphone control of your vehicle and its information for enhanced utility. While higher trim levels do offer leather appointments and unique styling, ultimately its attempt to compete with the plush and luxurious interior of the 2019 Ram 1500 falls dismayingly short.
